Terry Duguid is an experienced community leader and a strong advocate for the environment and public health.
Terry was the Executive Director of the Liberal Party in Manitoba during the late 1980s, and was elected to Winnipeg City Council in 1989. As the city’s Chair of Works and Operations, Terry negotiated Winnipeg’s portion of the first Canada Infrastructure Program. Known for his environmental leadership, Terry pioneered Winnipeg’s blue box recycling and water conservation programs, and served for four years as Manitoba’s Clean Environment Commissioner.
Over the past decade, Terry has made major contributions in the infectious diseases sector, helping to position Winnipeg as a global powerhouse in this area. As founding President and CEO of the International Centre for Infectious Diseases, Terry’s work strengthened collaboration among health researchers, supported scientific innovation and brought good jobs to Winnipeg.
Terry is the President of Sustainable Developments International and is a Director at the University of Winnipeg’s Richardson College for the Environment.
